Leaving traditional companies to join Web3 - The new trend

When I was a child, my dream was to join Google, Facebook, or any of the big-name companies. But after joining Web3, even if I get a direct offer from them, I won’t join. And this is the case for any developer who knows exactly what Web3 holds for the future and why decentralization matters.
Two years ago, executives and engineers at big businesses called Web3 a “scam”. And now they are racing to leave their jobs and join Web3 startups. Ironic, right? That’s what we are going to discuss in this article. Why Web3 is changing the business model the traditional companies are built on, why they are going to be out of business in a decade if they don’t quickly adapt, what are the benefits of working in Web3, and how to join as a developer.
✨ The Web3 revolution
There is no doubt that new blockchain tech like NFTs and DeFi are taking over and changing the rules of the game. And some non-tech companies have already realized that. Some examples:
Pepsi has released the Mic Drop NFTs collection. Click here for more info.
Adidas has joined the metaverse and bought a Bored Ape Yacht Club #8774. Click here for more info.
And by the way, NFTs are not just art collections. They can represent ownership of almost anything. An example is how Subgraphs on The Graph network are going to be NFTs, allowing developers to transfer ownership of their Subgraphs.
Unstoppable Domains is offering domain names as NFTs. This is solving multiple problems we currently have. No 3d party can take your domain because it is an NFT and stored in your wallet. Also, no renewal fees!!
And the new play-to-earn gaming system powered by NFTs is revolutionary. It is replacing the traditional pay-to-play system. For example, the NFT game Axie Infinity has generated over $1B in revenue last year. And all of their revenue is going back to the users. And let me give you two options:
Open a bank saving account, put your money in, and get < 1% APY. (Take a look here, they are bragging about 0.50% APY LMAO).
Use different saving DeFi protocols that can generate > 18% APY on stable coins, like Anchor Protocol.
Which one are you going to choose? Exactly, and that's why banks are starting to panic, asking for regulations, etc… They don’t stand a chance against the new DeFi system. And they will go out of business if they don’t adapt quickly.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I can just go on and on for hours giving you similar examples, and explaining how Web3 is building a new world, a world where the user is back in control.
Let’s set all of this beside and talk about the $. Yes, Web3 startups are now the new get-rich-faster job in Silicon Valley.

Some benefits of working in Web3
Decentralization - We don’t care about your gender, race, country of residence, age, or anything else. If you have the required experience, you will get a job. Some DAOs won’t even ask you what is your full name, you can work completely anonymous.
Flexible time - Some DAOs pay per task and I find this quite impressive. You don’t need to work specific hours. You just need to get the job done.
High pay rate - Since there is NO boss or an owner, all the profit is going back to the builders/users. All of us are equal.
Remember when the internet was founded decades ago? This is exactly the same, we are still very early and you get to be part of the biggest restructuring in the history of business.
How to join Web3 as a developer?
There are a lot of great resources, I’m going to mention some of them:
Buildspace - I’ve taken multiple courses on Buildspace and I can ensure you they have the best Web3 resources. You can learn how to build a DAO, mint NFTs, write Solidity, and a lot of other cool things.
UseWeb3 - You can find videos, tutorials, starter kits, code challenges and so many things that will help you establish a Web3 career.
Web3 University - Your Guide to Blockchain Development. To be honest, I’ve never used this platform before, but I heard a lot of good things and you can give it a try!
And now you need to join some DAOs, where you can meet like-minded people, form a team, and start BUIDLING together.
DeveloperDAO - This DAO literally has all the Web3 devs LOL. As of now, you need to buy an NFT to join.
BuilderDAO - They launched recently and I think they are going places. You just need to join the Discord server.
And I would also recommend the new comprehensive guide “The Complete Guide to Full Stack Web3 Development” by Nader Dabit.
